UK Police and intelligence services are lobbying hard to gain powers to snoop on internet telephony, reports The Guardian.
Authorities are increasingly worried about the ability of criminals to be able to make anonymous internet calls, particularly through pre-pay wireless and VoIP. As VoIP does not travel through an exchange, and calls cannot be pinned down to a geographical location, this makes tracing the source of criminal communication very difficult. Full article here |
