Skype recently published this report on their Security and cryptography:
http://www.skype.com/security/files/2005-031%20security%20evaluation.pdf
Perhaps unsurprisingly for an internally commissioned report (albeit from an outside consultant) the conclusion was positive:
"The designers of Skype did not hesitate to employ cryptography widely
and well in order to establish a foundation of trust, authenticity, and
confidentiality for their peer-to-peer services. The implementers of
Skype implemented the cryptographic functions correctly and
efficiently. As a result, the confidentiality of a Skype session is far
greater than that offered by a wired or wireless telephone call or by
email and email attachments.
"Beyond errors in the cryptosystem, I have also looked for back
doors, Trojans, overreaching “debugging” facilities, etc. I did not
find any hints of malware in the portions of the Skype code I reviewed."
Taken from the above report by
Tom Berson of Anagram Laboratories.

VoIP Security Threat Taxonomy, the framework is designed to provide the
industry with a clearer view of VoIP
security risks put into context with a discussion of technical
trade-offs. |

I have set this site up to document developments on
Phil Zimmermann's project to develop an encryption app for VOIP. I will
also be posting any related news I find interesting and relevant to
privacy and Voice Over IP.
