Poll Finds SMBs do not trust VOIP

But they do see a competitive advantage in its uptake...

The survey, conducted by International Data Corp. for CompTIA, found that delays and disruptions in voice and data communications are costly for SMBs.

The results indicate that VARs, integrators and vendors have to put more emphasis on selling the robustness of IP telephony systems, just as they have in their ongoing successful push to highlight the need for data network security.

In a separate survey, also conducted by Framingham, Mass.-based IDC, two thirds of small businesses indicated they see a competitive advantage from adopting VOIP technology.

New Skype trojan found!

Messagelabs have reported the worm is contained in an email and claims to contain version 1.4 of Skype's VoIP software client. It is in fact a variant of the IRCbot Trojan horse.

Further reports confirm that there are three variants of the Trojan, but we haven't yet found a downloadable patch for it. Please do contact  us if you know where one can be found!
